The Peep

TSAI Shih-Hung’s The Peep places unrelated objects in the same scene and introduces a peeper peeping at these objects. The viewer on the other hand stays outside of the painting and is able to observe the peeper and the various objects in the painting. When these common, everyday objects are placed together, they form a broken composition that is difficult to understand. TSAI Shih-Hung built this seemingly meaningful scenario but detached himself and became a cold and even perverse peeper, who was free to create the composition without the use of any reference or basis.
