TSAI Shih-Hung’s visual elements are taken from animation, cartoons, movies, and photographs in order to create fantastic sceneries that differ from everyday lives. The People shows several red islands floating in the sky against a highly textured background. Purple and red colored people, supposedly hailing from different countries, fly across the sky like fighter jets. The clouds floating in the sky seem like plumes of smoke generated by bombs that had been dropped by the airplanes. TSAI Shih-Hung’s works depict alternative imaginations of national boundaries, sovereign relationships between countries, and the realistic state of being in the modern society.
