TSAI Shih-Hung’s visual elements are taken from animation, cartoons, movies, and photographs in order to create fantastic sceneries that differ from everyday lives. Edge is composed of 3 hexagonal panels, each showing a different landscape. The first shows an aircraft trailing red smoke as though it has been hit. The other shows an individual wearing red clothes standing on an island while raising a placard while being surrounded by total darkness. The final panel shows people in black and green colored suits holding objects that generated thick plumes of smoke. TSAI Shih-Hung’s works use symbols and imageries of warfare to depict the sense of insecurity and unease while reflecting upon the actual straits of modern societies.
