HSU Jui-Fu depicts the interaction and symbiosis between human beings and nature. His work “Me in Front of the Mountains-2”, conveys the imagery of human and mountains by pencil. Different species form the giant half-length portrait in the center; ferns and mushrooms beneath the sunflower, hibiscus, lily, and anthurium; and animals such as birds, lizards, and rats. HSU Jui-Fu’s encyclopedia touch delivers time, history, species and the ancient mountains in such a detailed way, that viewers sense the quietness of nature, perceive the artist’s understanding toward nature, and the concept of symbiosis of all creatures. In facing the mountains, “I” am just a leaf in the woods.
