HSU Jui-Fu’s artworks are intimate observations and illustrations of biological decay and growth, and express the silent yet breathtaking interaction that exists between individuals and difference species. We Were All in One is a pencil illustration of seven life forms based upon HSU Jui-Fu’s memories and emotional reflection after his sessions of close observations. Repeated smudges and layers of detail allow HSU Jui-Fu to create biological organisms formulated deep within his heart. HSU Jui-Fu hopes to use the process of hand sketches to discover the connections between him and the objects he drew to manifest his subconscious self. HSU Jui-Fu believes that ugly things can also be interpreted beautifully by viewing it from another perspective. Art allows HSU Jui-Fu to transform scenes of biological decay and filth into a spiritual and emotional landscape of meaningful prose.
