From the man-made traces, YANG Zi-Yi explores the conflicts and similarities between men and nature by using the urban space and architectural ruins as the theme. The work, Imprisoned Pond, presents an artificial landscape surrounded by a fence. There are pseudo-natural landscapes, purple water, orange-red rocks and white smoke inside, creating a magical atmosphere. The animals in the picture have actually been made into specimens, symbolizing the freezing of time. The artificial mountains and stones echo the arrangement of the oriental forestry culture and refer to the yearning for nature. YANG Zi-Yi reorganizes nature and man-made structures to explore the value and significance of the variation between natural landscapes, history, and culture behind the development of cities and civilizations.
