YANG Zi-Yi uses urban spaces and construction ruins as the artistic theme. Artificial traces in space are used to explore issues related to conflicts and coexistence between artificial elements and nature. Greenhouse is a glue painting of brilliant, fantasy hues. The composition depicts a world where natural landscapes co-exist with artificial buildings. Instead of nurturing plants, this greenhouse cultivates a meandering mountain range. A red chasm opens along the middle of the mountains as though hot magma flows underneath. YANG Zi-Yi creates a mythological world in an attempt to explore the roots of urban development and progress of civilization as well as the value of natural sights in a time of changing historical and cultural norms.
