After enduring the pain of bereavement from the loss of a loved to a car accident, artist TAO Kang channeled his emotions into water-and-ink painting. The Creation of Human Beings – Futurity series is a look at the people Tao met in his life. In his work, he exhibits a sense of interaction between himself and different subjects, applying a semi-abstract water-and-ink painting technique as a means of expression. In The Creation of Human Beings - Futurity I, Tao creates a fantasy landscape with densely packed, differently shaded ink spots. Using simple shapes, the artist describes the motions, postures and interactions of the figures lined up at the bottom. Tao abandons the description of figures and spaces from an observer’s standpoint, and instead rebuilds the forms of the figures and the world, giving us a macroscopic perspective.
