作品賞析

CHI Chien’s Back Garden series applies Taiwan’s folk printed cloth. In Back Garden: Playground, the edge was built in the flower patterned cloth; the flower at the front and a line crossing horizontally outlining another edge, indicate the breach and extension of the field. Above the line is a khaki color and beneath is black; a girl in a swimming suit, the shadow of the plane and a man with his back to the viewer, allow viewers to attempt the three dimension a space beneath, above, and behind the water in the plane. The naming of the work emphasizes the ‘back’, insinuating the secrecy of the field that one may immersed in and roam; meanwhile ‘back’ could be related to ‘post’, which means new.
