CHI Chien’s Live in Time is a realistic close-up illustration of the human body to generate the dialog and trails of light and shadow. In addition to the close-up illustration, the background of the composition takes on the shape of a white-colored mountain whose contours were based upon that of the human body. The green colored naval vessel shown on the right also generated a white colored projection that was arranged into separate layers and assembled. The result is a compact assemblage where landscape and objects coexist with one another. CHI Chien converts photographs into pictures, creating a world where languages and symbols can both be taken apart and reassembled to create new interpretations.
