LIU Yi-Lan is a self-taught artist. Most of her creative themes are based on personal life experience and describe her observation of emotion and humanity. In the work Do You Think You Can Create the Art while Wearing Masks?, a red-dress woman with a masquerade mask holds a paintbrush. The plate on her left hand is replaced with another mask. While creating her self-portrait, the protagonist takes off the broken traditional mask and exposes her real face. This work conveys that artists need to show their true colors when facing the creation, regardless of the role they play in reality. By putting aside the worldly perspective, their thoughts, emotions, and concepts will be presented in the sincerest and pure appearance.
