LIU Yi-Lan’s works are strongly autobiographical, portraying a distinct personal style while allowing the artist to reflect upon her own life. Unripe Strawberry-1 shows a boy and a girl against a monotonous dark green background. The girl appeared shy, with one hand at her back and another tugging at the boy’s trousers while leaning her head towards the boy. The boy, on the other hand, appeared livelier, with both hands raised to pose the sign of victory. LIU Yi-Lan has made a series of detailed observations to record the coming-of-age process, while providing another perspective of youths from different generations.
