LIU Yi-Lan’s works are strongly autobiographical, portraying a distinct personal style while allowing the artist to reflect upon her own life. The Godsent shows the artist depicting herself as a stereotypical woman that is regarded as desirable. The figure is seated on a lavishly decorated chair with full bosoms and petite body, covering with only a piece of green fabric while wearing a demure expression that highlights her feminine charms. However, the woman is also shown with a crown of blades. The entire composition is an analogy of how the modern society objectifies women.
