LIU Yi-Lan’s works are strongly autobiographical, portraying a distinct personal style while allowing the artist to reflect upon her own life. Wild Lily is based upon a native species of flower in Taiwan known for its tenacity and toughness. The flower was selected to convey the atmosphere and resilience of this land. The plant is able to grow in the wilderness or between tiny cracks in the rocks. The wild lily flowers shown in the artwork are in full bloom. The entire composition makes use of the main colors of blue, green, and red to highlight the passions and vitality that only belong to this native land.
