Artwork Appreciation
HO Huey-Chih is a skilled in creating still life via oil painting. Her meticulous brushstrokes and mastery in chiaroscuro effects allowed her to depict images with more brilliance and details compared to the actual physical objects. Unlike traditional still life works depicted against simple backdrops, HO Huey-Chih has employed a continuous composition covering the entire background as well, resulting in a splendorous visual feast for the eyes. Love of God depicts withered reed as an analogy for life and yellowed luffa sponges as its conclusion. However, young birds in the nest and unextinguished candle light symbolize that faith can bring about love and hope to create a simple yet joyful atmosphere, reminding viewers of being content and thankful for what we have.
