Artwork Appreciation
HSIAO Ya-Hsin’s paintings are emotional representations of her meticulous observations of the external environment. Harmonious colors and compositions were used to recreate spiritual and verdant natural worlds from her memories. Spring assembles fragments of memories and visuals to recreate the image of the season while exploring the possibilities of merging forms, colors, and brushstrokes to give birth to a unique spatial environment. The 3-panel artwork is an assemblage of color layers and brushwork to depict the different expressions of spring, such as growing lifeforms in the meadows, a slight breeze with spring showers, and verdant leaves and flowers flowing with the wind currents.
