SHIAU Ya-Hsin has a lot of experiences in traveling overseas and living in artist villages in other countries, and is skilled in using oil painting to depict her experiences living abroad as well as the relationships between people and their environments. SHIAU Ya-Hsin’s Mustard Seed portrays white and pale-yellow colored round mustard seeds with its tiny points that cover the right half of the painting. A creature with a brown colored hide decorated with white spots stands on the left side, the background of which depicts a white and coffee-colored mountain range. SHIAU Ya-Hsin is known for her astute observation skills and rich sensitivities when meticulously presenting her experiences upon the canvas. To her, art is a form of self-elevation and a portrait of her personal experiences.
