Artwork Appreciation
HUANG Chiu-Yueh creates abstract works rich in eastern ink painting elements in order to convey ideas and emotional response to a particular moment in life. Blue Silence employs distinct layers of overlapping blue, red, and black to create an orderly and rhythmic composition. Dry brushstrokes, stone rubbing, scratches, and drips were used to generate different patterns and create a montage of layers and textures. Black pencil marks were strewn randomly across the canvas, corresponding with the black and white dots scattered throughout the painting that resemble documented records of inner feelings.
