Artwork Appreciation
YUAN Hui-Li’s Ambiguous World series is a series of eastern gouache paintings. Her mountain wrinkled texture is free from the limitations of traditional wrinkled texture and can freely express inner feelings. The work, Ambiguous World No.52, adopts a variety of complicated wrinkled texture to construct a unique, changing, and mixing mountain wrinkled structure to perhaps metaphorize that Taiwan, an oceanic island, has been colonized by different countries of different cultures and has developed into a state of diversity. At the same time, the gorgeous landscapes are no longer just about a natural phenomenon, but an island world with post-colonial enrichments.
