Artwork Appreciation
The curiosity of LIU Wen-Hsuan drives her to cut pieces of painted work into strips of thin paper. In Hope is the Thing with Feathers, the curled paper has been delicately adhered to the surface of the board. Pieces of fine paper form a three-dimensional texture, and the green colors faintly reveal a colorful reflection of light, presenting a visual effect of mixing sculpture with painting. LIU Wen-Hsuan tries to extend the painting to the physical space, hoping to express the diverse modeling elements and the interaction between each other. The abstraction of the painting and the concreteness of the sculpture are interwoven into pieces full of imaginative artistic style.
