The works of artist Hsiao Chu-Fang are often reminiscent of single-frame comics without dialogue. Behind the seemingly simple lines are actually delicate observations and reflections on daily life. There are many uninterrupted circles on the picture, and the brushwork is very fast. This is the result of the artist venting her inner urgency through the flowing paint. She first used green as a base, then covered it over with different shades of white to create a pale feeling—the kind of pale color face shows when one hears some bad news and breaks into a cold sweat. The white and green colors also derive from mental connections with medicine packets. This work was created in 2022, which may be described as the post-pandemic period, when people were still living in a state of physical and mental vigilance. What the artist wanted to depict was the psychological state of constantly being under pressure. The comic-like image conveys her hope that viewers will be able to view the course of life from a humorous perspective.
