You Take One, and I Take Another.

HSIAO Chu-Fang often uses the seemingly insignificant, and yet simply profound little things in life as the main subjects for creations. In the work, You Take One, and I Take Another, two characters presented in a bird's-eye view are each holding a bowl filled with hot soup. Their physiques are exaggerated in shapes, especially their two arms, which are deliberately elongated and deformed to convey the tense atmosphere when holding the soup. The two bowls of soup are also personified with awkward faces and they seem to have their own emotions. Different from the flat style from previous works, this series begins to add obvious strokes and textures, allowing more emotions to be expressed through the painting. HSIAO Chu-Fang transforms ordinary life scenes into witty imaginations that humorize the little sorrows in life.
