LI Ping-Yi uses wood engraving to keep her life fragments. In Ranchu, she depicts the most favorite goldfish and also projects the image of herself, her family and friends. The three goldfish live in a leisurely manner, each with its style, whether it is anthropomorphic action of spitting smoke or a body with aquatic plants growing on its back. She creates the creatures by using the method of "pharming" in botany. She links personal thoughts to contemporary experience and expresses a new definition of ecological species. LI Ping-Yi overlaps sensory memories and spiritual spirits, presenting a warm atmosphere different from traditional prints and coexisting with nature.
