LI Ping-Yi’s works are based on real life and convert daily objects and creatures into imaginary elements. The pond at dawn portrays a pond at daybreak just as the indigo sky begins to give way to a rosy-orange hue. A thin tree standing in the middle of a pristine pond is shown extending its leafy branches towards the sky. Graded tones overlap to form the warm and vibrant color scheme of the composition. LI Ping-Yi shatters the realist dictum of the survival of the fittest, creating instead a novel and imaginary vision where every natural element harmoniously coexists with one another.
