LI Ping-Yi’s works are based on real life and convert daily objects and creatures into imaginary elements. Asian Arowana – Green features a novel species with strange colors. The Arowana, two frogs retaining their tadpole tails, and strange looking aquatic plants co-exist in this strange ecosystem. Graded tones overlap to form the warm and vibrant color scheme of the composition. LI Ping-Yi shatters the realist dictum of the survival of the fittest, creating instead a novel and imaginary vision where every natural element harmoniously coexists with one another.
