LI Ping-Yi is a print artist who employs surrounding flora and fauna as her artistic object, integrating and grafting them to form imaginary creatures. In Noni, LI Ping-Yi has illustrated several Noni fruits, with the leaves and branches entwined to form a circular ring. The artist used multiple woodblocks to generate overlap prints from saturated and deep colors to transparent and light shades. The final artwork is a multi-layered composition with pastel-like finish. LI Ping-Yi chose the Noni fruit as scientists have found that it has many functions and potential in treating many disaeses. LI Ping-Yi has artistically reinterpreted this strange-looking and disease-curing plant capable of solving human ailment and misery while using the art creation process therapeutically as well.
