CHENG Cheng-Huang juxtaposes mild woodcut prints and ink to denote inner states. In his work, A Familiar Strange Land 03, the surrounding mountains and caves are intertwined, rocks shatter and flow around from the sphere, the eye of the spirit looks into the center for answers but gets more confused. CHENG Cheng-Huang depicts how he gets along with himself. The world suddenly calmed down, the more silent it is, the more surreal the world appears. You come to the question whether you really exist, or if it’s all just projection and illusion? The ego swings between unreal and real till you see the light, a familiar yet unfamiliar memory emerges with a force, exploding with potential.
