The Red Floor

CHEN Ting-Chun generates a series of artwork that represents different types of residences. The Red Floor portrays a bathroom furnished only with a sink and a mirror and nothing else. A towel hangs at the side while sandals and a dustbin are placed on the floor, creating a seemingly ordinary bathroom that is somehow furnished with red flooring that contrasted sharply with the mundane setup. The shape of the sink and distribution of the items also reflected the unique lifestyle of the region. CHEN Ting-Chun has once again used a diary-like narrative to describe the experiences of living overseas in a variety of living spaces.
