In “A Yellow Room”, CHEN Ting-Chun injects into the empty room a warm atmosphere by using warm colors, allowing viewers to feel the warmness of people. In the room, the portrait frames on the wall, the lamp on the bookshelf, and the objects, such as newspapers and books, on the dining table are all suggesting that there is human activity inside the room; on the other hand, viewers seem to be peeping into a private space. During the process of painting this work, Chen continued to look for memory and traces in the room, and invites us to embark on all kinds of dramatic imaginations. With these imaginations, this series of paintings of interior spaces seems to be telling a story and the passing of a period of time.
