CHEN Ting-Chun’s works are mostly focused upon private residences. In order to discuss the meaning behind private space, CHEN Ting-Chun would personally visit and observe the room, and then depicting its concept via an illustration. The Alex’s is a drawing of a friend’s residence. The composition is divided in two, with the top half depicting the personal room and the bottom half depicting the kitchen. The house is clean and tidy, with furnishing arranged spontaneously at various corners of the room, highlighting the personality of the house’s owner. CHEN Ting-Chun uses illustrations of people’s residences to help viewers create a picture on the owner’s personality. Objects and color tones of the house also communicate the owner’s profession and cultural background. Such illustrations allow CHEN Ting-Chun to record how people treat their own room.
