LIAO Meng-Ling has etched her innermost sensations and emotions upon wooden blocks. Dancing with Flora is made using Intaglio printing. Outward of botanical species are transformed into freely flowing lines and blocks. Color grade shading is then employed to create a hazy atmosphere. Dancing calligraphic strokes have been included upon the canvas, while large, irregular, blue and black colored block prints with the texture of wood intermingle with the strokes to compose a simple yet dynamic melody. With this liberal and relaxing visual language, LIAO Meng-Ling was able to create unique works to convey aspects of her emotional world.
