KIM Hyun-Jin is a Print artist, and her creative inspirations are derived from her thorough and precise observations of everyday life. KIM Hyun-Jin uses ever-changing colors to portray her outlandish creativity and dreamscapes through physical imageries that have broken every traditional convention of artwork. Colorful Childhood-I portrays KIM Hyun-Jin’s childhood world as her has remembered it – brightly colored and full of innocent fun. KIM Hyun-Jin has selected a woodblock as her creative media, using repeated carvings and color lamination to shape transformations of color and bring forth a light and passionate atmosphere of joy. Brightly colored decorations have been introduced to heighten the image’s freshness and degrees of change. The character depicted in the work is composed using simple and semi-abstract forms, highlighting the carefree times that we once experienced during our childhoods. In this work, KIM Hyun-Jin made use of her deft engraving skills to compose a rich anthology of colorful transmutations and express his childhood nostalgia, share his passion and love for art, and leading the viewers into her inner fantasies.
