Artwork Appreciation
PAI Yu-Lin is skilled in creating ink painting. Affluence is a record of horses grazing at the foot of Dajian Mountain in southern Taiwan. Abstract and near-planar composition is employed to show the horse lazily grazing upon the fertile and well irrigated pastures. The horses in the artwork are employed to symbolize people reputed to be the most beautiful landscape of Taiwan, conveying the boundless energy and free lifestyles of the Taiwanese people. Personal memories and emotional experiences were used to convert spatial ideas into artistic abstractions and overlapping geometric color patches, assembling the colors and forms to create the final composition and display the unique vitality of ink painting.
