Artwork Appreciation
LI Cheng-Hsun’s work, The Day Will Come Again, combines the idea of figurative painting with the concept of abstract art. He interlaces vertical lines, parallel lines, and curved lines, and by combining colors, shapes, and lines, he makes his work more complex visually, representing an emotional depth that is constantly layered upon. In the layered picture, there is an image of a vaguely undulating mountain. The blank space on the right is filled with triangles with a mountain-like texture and the thin curved line below draws a border for the different terrains. Here, "the mountain seen is a mountain, the mountain seen is not a mountain, the mountain seen is still a mountain." The work uses a single color tone and different shapes, creating a dialogue space that can be extended through endless imagination.
