WU Cheng-Han simulates ancient paintings with acrylic paintings and uses creatures in the nature for observation and depiction. In the work, Big Explosion, with meticulous brushwork and mottled, yellowed color tones, an ink painting landscape from the ancient time is created. In the picture, the volcanoes are erupting, and the volcanic ash is flying into the sky. The debris and rocks are falling everywhere, but the two sparrows in the scene do not seem to be scared. WU Cheng-Han transforms the material vocabulary of ink painting, trying to respond to the worsening air pollution problem, while at the same time, using the unchanging principle, that the weak becomes the prey of the strong, as a reflection of the competition and mode of operation in human society.
