WU Cheng-Han uses acrylic to mimic ancient paintings that focus on biological organisms in an attempt to create a new form of landscape painting that can serve as a window for observing human society. Hang depicts a meticulously painted toad hanging by 2 fine threads from the twigs of a plant as though serving as bait. The background, on the other hand, is a traditional landscape painting bordered by the orange jasmine plant. The tattered and yellowed color tones as well as the deliberate sketch marks left within the painting reveal interesting twists to the types of media used in the artwork.
