WU Cheng-Han uses acrylic to mimic ancient paintings that focus on biological organisms in an attempt to create a new form of landscape painting that can serve as a window for observing human society. The Land is So Beautiful shows a tattered and yellowed tone based upon ancient landscape paintings. A large and meticulously illustrated butterfly lies across this background like a motionless display case specimen. To WU Cheng-Han, biological organisms serve as an analogy on how human society works as everyone is subject to the rule of the jungle and focuses on merely survival.
