WU Cheng-Han uses acrylic to mimic ancient paintings that focus on biological organisms in an attempt to create a new form of landscape painting that can serve as a window for observing human society. Fly shows a meticulously illustrated dragonfly that dominates the greater half of the painting. The background, on the other hand, is composed of both the near-view and far-view of traditional landscape paintings. The tattered and yellowed color tones as well as the deliberate sketch marks left within the painting reveal interesting twists to the types of media used in the artwork. To WU Cheng-Han, biological organisms serve as an analogy on how human society works as everyone is subject to the rule of the jungle and focuses on merely survival.
