LAI Shuai-Cheng uses traditional ink as a media to manifest fantastic ideas. Conjoined Twins shows an organism with 2 heads connected to long necks while a heart with eyes sprout from the place where the necks meet the body. Although the 2 heads may have their own independent way of thinking, they share the same body and are bound to each other for life. LAI Shuai-Cheng’s biological entities are unique individuals with their own way of thinking and personalities. She integrated smudging and wrinkling techniques of traditional Chinese landscape painting to manifest imaginary ideas and to give these fantastic entities a sense of existence.
