CHIU Chin-Ping created a series of industrial images as a means to evoke memories of manufacturing lines and machine tools and to convey the legacy and roles that these historical items hold in her heart. Flashback Of Old EraⅡ serves as a spiritual witness that is based upon a metalwork factory belonging to the artist’s father. Iron instills a cold and hard feeling, but to the artist, the material represented the warmth of the family. The composition displays what appears to be 3 stills from a video, showing machine tools left in a forgotten corner after the family ironworks moved. The patchy and rusty color tones recreate the ravages of time while helping people reminisce about the time of yesteryear.
