CHIU Chin-Ping created a series of industrial images as a means to evoke memories of manufacturing lines and machine tools and to convey the legacy and roles that these historical items hold in her heart. Flashback of Old Era OX-5 serves as a spiritual witness that is based upon a metalwork factory belonging to the artist’s father. Iron instills a cold and hard feeling, but to the artist, the material represented the warmth of the family. The picture includes images of machine tools and working platforms overlapped with rust-colored patchworks that symbolize the passage of time and the marks they had left upon these once glorious days.
