HUANG Mei-Yun’s artwork are mainly inspired by everyday observations of her surroundings in the process of self-discovery. Warming Tidewater uses brightly colored and naturally curved petals of the cockscomb blossom as the main theme. The flower expands in a rhythm until it eventually covers the entire canvas. The curved ridges and fiery red tones of the petals create a powerful visual image. Changing color tones create sublime aesthetics like giant waves that crash against the shore. A fuzzy heart shape hidden within the composition convey the artist’s attraction to natural beauty as well as a flood of inner sensations and ideas.
