The subject matter for HUANG Mei-Yun’s painting comes primarily from her observations of daily life, for she believes the most beautiful things are often those found right next to us. The surroundings of our hometown, potted plants in our courtyard—these familiar scenes are tightly bound up with our memories and contain within them the philosophy and our feelings about life itself. Her work Suspension symbolizes the invisible and unnamable spiritual uneasiness caused by the vexation, terror, anxiety, worry, responsibility, and obligation in life. These moods feel like the strips of considerations. They keep hanging in the mental space of self and coexist with life.
