The subject matter for HUANG Mei-Yun’s painting comes primarily from her observations of daily life, for she believes the most beautiful things are often those found right next to us. The surroundings of our hometown, potted plants in our courtyard—these familiar scenes are tightly bound up with our memories and contain within them the philosophy and our feelings about life itself. In the image of her work Frequency, white ripple appears on the surface of water and the reflection of plants is obscurely seen. The image is poetic and intoxicating. Through the vague landscape, the artist presents the reflection of plants and the ripple on the surface of water. It looks like the tempo of heartbeat getting more and more frequent. It symbolizes the more powerful pressure in the modern society and reminds us to find a relieving outlet for our mood. We should try to moderate the frequency of life and breath and look for the outlet of life by following the mental instruction.
