The creative elements and inspirations of LI Yu-Chen’s prints are her memories and traveling experiences. She believes that memories are both an accumulation and extension of time. Temporal worlds created by the brain will gradually convert landscapes in our memories into realms of fantasy. LI Yu-Chen’s Travelling Series III depicts two low country houses atop verdant plains, with tall thickets of grass reflecting splendorous golden rays from the moon. The massive mountains in the background stand serenely upon the earth, with oddly shaped clouds floating among the ridges. This is a fantasy world created by LI Yu-Chen as she reassembles and re-imagines her memories. LI Yu-Chen re-created numerous images she has never seen before by relying on her experiences alone. To her, the memories of our mind are not real and permanent objects. Instead, they are roaming and changing entities not unlike the environment that we are in.
