Artwork Appreciation
Inspired by local traditional culture of Tainan, Huang Bo-Xun’s “A Story Over the Hills and Far Away” searches for Taiwan’s very own colors, such as the red flame tree blossoms near Koxinga Temple, as well as the red rhombus spring couplets for Chinese New Year. Through the process, Huang examines this soil that fostered him, and the artist believes that, on this island we live on, time and space are flowing and pulling each other; just like water, as it can be easily colored or be poured into different containers, and constantly change its form and state. Through this work, Huang also wants to express his longing for people to share closer ties, including emotions, concepts, and thoughts.
