Located on the south coast of the Tierra del Fuego in Argentina, Ushuaia is a southeast city known as the end of the world. In the first half of the twentieth century, it was actually a place of exile for felons. HUANG Po-Hsun has never set his foot on the city; yet somehow he is obsessed with it. He painted this romantic but cruel place with acrylic, his soft and colorful brushstrokes contradicted by the spikes on the island; the towering lighthouse is both a beacon for seafarers and a nightmare of imprisonment. The isolated island on the rough sea, lonely boats on the sea, and fantastic balloon-like objects; HUANG Po-Hsun expresses his loneliness in a dream-like style, just like the red, blue, and purple land interlaced on the island, an unknown land lies beneath the overlapping brushstrokes.
