Artwork Appreciation
In Pink Meanders, artist HUANG Bo- Xun layers bizarre picture elements on top of each other, the candy-like pastel colors creating a dazzling fantasyland.
Looking closely, you will find that Huang uses layering of pigments and changing contrasts to create a computer graphics like effect. Huang makes full use of the glossy plastic-film sheen that acrylic takes on after drying, which is completely different from the moist richness of oil paint.
By exploring the rich possibilities of acrylic, Huang invites the viewer to ponder the differences between realism and imagination in visual imagery.
