Artwork Appreciation
CHEN Shiau-Peng creates abstract works with rich visual effects based on her daily sensations and experience. This work questions -"What is it?" in the subtitle, wants the viewers to think freely on the possibility of images, what is it? What does it mean? The circles, squares and lines constitute absolute abstract shapes, and could stand for a mathematical symbols, or some sign. CHEN Shiau-Peng lays no boundary on the imagination, and doesn’t define a correct answer, instead letting viewers produce the meanings and links with the work. In the usage of colors, this work provides another way of thinking, people from different cultures may have very different interpretations of colors.
