Artwork Appreciation
Print artist LIU Yu-Fang is adept at using gorgeous colors and forms to create different layers to build a unique visual space. The theme of the Journey of the Purple Crow Butterflies is the migration of these beautiful insects. With tense and saturated blocks of color, the artist creates a painting that depicts the butterflies as they dance in unison, resembling a river that flows in the air, an exuberant, riotous profusion of color. As for her use of media, the artist first skillfully creates in letterpress, and on the plate she pastes wire and wood to represent the rich diversity of nature. LIU Yu- Fang tries, through her art, to call upon people to value highly ecological preservation because peaceful coexistence between humanity and nature is the only answer for the sustainable development of a beautiful environment.
